I’ve spent over 15 years in HR.
Hi, I’m Celia.
I’ve spent more than 15 years inside Australian and global organisations, working across employee relations, performance, organisational change, leadership and the everyday realities of working with people.
I know the policies, the processes and the organisational side of HR.
But the part I’ve always loved most is the person-to-person part.
The messy stuff, the complicated stuff and the “can I just talk this through with you?” stuff.
That has always been the part of HR that mattered most to me.
Policies, processes and employment frameworks all matter, but people rarely arrive with a neat, policy-shaped problem.
There is usually history and context. There are relationships, assumptions, competing perspectives and decisions that can affect far more than someone’s working day.
After years of doing this work, one thing I know is that there is rarely just one side to a workplace situation. Understanding what is happening properly means being curious enough to look at the whole picture.
Good HR requires judgement, perspective, curiosity and humanity.
That’s the HR I believe in.
Why Got HR?
For most of my career, the kind of HR expertise I provide has lived inside organisations. But not everyone has access to HR, and even when you do, there are times when you want an independent perspective before approaching your employer or making an important decision.
I created Got HR? to make that experience available directly to individuals. The purpose isn’t to create conflict or automatically take one side. It’s to make experienced HR thinking available to the person who usually doesn’t have their own HR adviser sitting beside them.
My experience spans employee relations, performance, workplace investigations, organisational change, restructures and redundancy, leadership, workplace policy, flexible work, parental leave and complex employee and manager situations.
My advice is also informed by Australian workplace frameworks and employer obligations, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards, Modern Awards, flexible work and parental leave provisions, the right to disconnect, discrimination and equal opportunity principles, work health and safety obligations, psychosocial hazard management and contemporary gender equality requirements.
Where something crosses into legal advice or representation, I’ll tell you and recommend appropriate specialist support.

The HR I want to keep doing.
The part of HR I’ve always wanted to keep doing is the part that happens person to person. It’s the conversation before someone sends the email, the question behind the question, and the moment where experience and context matter more than simply quoting a policy.
That’s the part of HR I wanted to make available outside an organisation.
And that’s Got HR?
